English Australia’s Executive Director, Sue Blundell, has been recognised for her contribution to the industry by the International Education Association of Australia. She was presented with the IEAA Award for Excellence in Leadership in International Education at this year’s Australian International Education Conference in Adelaide.

“Sue is an exemplary member of the industry and well known for her passion in representing the interests of the ELICOS sector and ensuring that this important sector receives the recognition it deserves,” stated the IEAA. “The industry as a whole has benefited from English Australia’s increased profile and the voice that this gives English language providers in discussions that impact their operations.”

Blundell – also on the advisory board of The PIE – has worked at English Australia for the past nine years and has helped significantly increase the association’s profile on a national level, leveraging greater governmental understanding of the needs and impact of the international education industry, which is the third-biggest export earner for the country.

David Matthews, Chair of EA, commented, “With this award, Sue has made yet another significant contribution to raising the profile of English Australia member colleges and the ELICOS sector more broadly.”
