ELS Educational Services, the self-styled leading recruiter of international students for US higher education, has acquired Universal English College (UEC) in Sydney, increasing its presence in the Australian pathway market.

Formed 22 years ago, UEC is one of Australia’s most respected English language schools and was rated 8th best English language school in the world by the Ryugaku Journal, based on customer feedback.

The college has cultivated relationships with numerous Australian FE and HE institutions, which will enrich ELS’s network of 650 university partnerships worldwide and increase progression options for students. Forty-two of the country’s colleges, TAFE vocational schools and universities will now receive students who have completed ELS or UEC programmes.

Mark Harris, ELS Educational Services President and CEO, said: “I am very excited about the union of Universal English College with ELS Educational Services. We share common values, quality of services, creation of student pathways and dedication to student success.”

UEC, which will now be known as ELS Universal English College, will continue to offer a range of English courses and high school preparation as well as a new ELS English for Academic Purposes programme.
