Sweden-based Educatius International, best known for international student placement into the US high school system, has bought the for-profit arm of Council for Education Travel (CET) Group, thus moving into English language training provision. The acquisition confirms the Swedish company’s ambitions to expand beyond its mainstay of US placement, managed via offices in the USA.
Tom Ericsson, Educatius founder and CEO, confirmed to The PIE News that his company had acquired the for-profit entities of CET Group and “continues to build something we believe in.”
Educatius recruits internationally and works with 200 partner US programmes and school districts. It also runs a Study Northern Europe programme, via a sister brand, Explorius, offering the chance to study in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
Included in the acquisition that happened in late 2012 were CET Group’s two English language schools – Twin Towers English College in London and CET Vancouver in Canada, as well as CET International, which organises cultural exchange trips for high school students and recruits for private American high schools, colleges and universities.
Educatius has already begun promoting the English language schools on its website.
Also included was leading German cultural exchange organisation DFSR, which founded the German-based European Hotel Academy. EHA runs intensive year-round hospitality courses in English and CET Adventures which offers adventure programmes to compliment education courses.
Educatius was set up in 2001 to recruit students to US private boarding schools but soon expanded to include private day schools with paid host family accommodation and American public high schools.
CET Group Director and Owner Rick Anaya was unavailable for comment.
