According to Xinhuanet, the event at the
Politecnico di Milano University attracted 200 officials, educators and students from the two countries. “China will support as always the cooperation and exchanges in education with Italy," Chinese Vice Education Minister Du Yubo told those gathered.

Scholarships have boosted exchange: the China Scholarship Council (CSC), which co-organised the event funded 4,407 Chinese to study in the European Union last year, and 1,858 EU students to study in China.
Rector of Politecnico di Milano, Giovanni Azzone said it was important for universities like his to build ties with China. The university, which is one of the moste respected technical instututions in the world,
runs all of its master’s courses in English as well as a joint programme with
Tongji University of Shanghai.
"Our idea is to jointly create an educational system, in which the Chinese as well as the European and Italian methods can take advantage of diversities," Azzone said.
Giuliano Noci, vice rector for China and a marketing professor at Politecnico di Milano, said Chinese professionals were also "very much needed by both Italian companies based in China and Chinese companies in Italy."
