“Canadian government support is helping us leverage our own resources to connect with new potential partners in Latin America, the Maghreb and Ukraine”
“Canadian government support is helping us leverage our own resources to connect with new potential partners in Latin America, the Maghreb and Ukraine,” CBIE President and CEO Karen McBride told The PIE News.
“Over many years, CBIE has worked with Canada’s government to engage our institutions in international education, including managing major scholarship and development programmes on behalf of our foreign affairs ministry,” said McBride.
“CBIE values this renewed recognition by Canada’s government of our role and capacity,” she added.
The association is also planning to support Libya’s transition through cooperation mission in higher education and through capacity building, with two upcoming trips to Canada by Libyan partners, also funded through GOA.
Meanwhile CIC, which operates in 29 countries visa 13 offices around the world, will receive CAN$120,000 of funding for its upcoming projects.
“This federal investment will support CIC’s international marketing, student recruitment and partnership activities in order to champion the college advantage in China, Vietnam, Nigeria and other priority countries for our members,” said Denise Amyot, President and CEO of Colleges and Institutes Canada.
The GOA programme, which was formerly the Program for Export Market Development – Associations (PEMD-A), provides contribution funding to support national associations undertaking new or expanded international business development activities, in strategic markets and sectors, for the benefit of an entire industry.
