The International Language Academy of Canada will become the official new home of the IELTS test centre formerly run by Global Village Vancouver as of July 1.

The newly acquired IELTS testing centre will move to ILAC Vancouver with its existing testing team and computer labs.

“Global Village is one of the pioneers of our industry”

“We are very sad to see Global Village have to close their doors as a result of Covid-19”, said Jonathan Kolber, CEO of ILAC.

“Global Village is one of the pioneers of our industry, especially for their testing and exam prep, and we are very grateful that they have allowed us to take over their IELTS test centre.”

The new IELTS test centre at ILAC will offer a choice of two versions of the IELTS exam, the IELTS Academic Exam and IELTS General Training Exam.

“The testing team at Global Village Vancouver has grown to over 200 highly trained testing experts over the last decade and we are delighted to become part of the ILAC family,” said Loretta Revoczi, business development manager for the test centre.

“This is an incredible opportunity for the centre to continue to develop with a reputable and forward-thinking organisation.”

ILAC already offers full-time, part-time and evening classes in IELTS preparation and will now also provide full-service IELTS support for students.

The new ILAC IELTS Test Centre will be one of the biggest in the world, with 14 venues across British Columbia and the Yukon.

With this acquisition, ILAC has an ambitious plan to expand testing into Toronto and across Canada.

“We are very proud to be working with ILAC on this transition,” said Monica Aguirre, stakeholder relations and business development manager at IDP, which is a co-owner of the IELTS test.

“ILAC is a long-standing member of the international education community and an ideal partner for IDP IELTS.”

Registrations will continue to be accepted through the IELTS Vancouver website and tests will be initially offered five days a week at the new ILAC location from July 11.
