New Oriental Group, one of China’s largest education companies, has signed an agreement with UK-based English language provider Bell, to provide teacher training programmes.

The agreement will see Bell train teachers in China where New Oriental Group has three million students and 20,000 teachers.

The curriculum will include how to use technology in the classroom, one to one teaching skills, young learner methodology and exam skills.

The deal builds on previous Bell training sessions delivered to New Oriental teachers visiting the UK and in China.

“Bell has really impressed us with their high level of teacher training, delivered by true experts in the profession”

“Bell has really impressed us with their high level of teacher training, delivered by true experts in the profession,” said Shi Ke, vice president of New Oriental Group.

As of November 2015, New Oriental Group had a network of 63 schools providing English and foreign language training, test preparation and school tutoring.

From November 2015 to the end of February this year, the company reported 20.6% year on year growth in net revenue to $346.9m.

In addition to its teaching operations, New Oriental employs 1,500 agents at 30 offices around the country to counsel some two million students annually to study overseas.

The agreement also aligns with Bell’s five-year strategy, announced last year, to increase profits to £38m by 2019 by developing its HE offering and increasing its number of schools both in the UK and overseas across three platforms: ELT for adults, young learners and teacher training.

Since opening its first school in 1955, Bell has taught over one million students. The company currently runs English-speaking kindergartens in China.
