Two-way mobility of college students and staff between Vietnam and the Canadian province of British Columbia will be facilitated by a new partnership forged between BC Colleges and the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges.
The three-year MoU between BC Colleges and VACC is aimed at advancing the international education agenda of both organisations, by fostering cultural, academic, and business exchange and facilitating bilateral student and teacher mobility programs.
“The agreement will benefit all parties through greater understanding, collaboration and exchange”
“Our colleges are delighted to enter into partnership with the extensive system of community colleges in Vietnam, represented by the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges,” John Bowman, chair of BC Colleges and president of North Island College said in a statement.
“The agreement will benefit all parties through greater understanding, collaboration and exchange between our institutions.”
The agreement was signed earlier this month by Colin Ewart, president of BCC, and Pham Tiet Khanh of VACC, during a joint conference hosted by the BCCIE and VACC in Huế, Vietnam.
“Today’s partnership represents an important step in advancing international education opportunities for students and teachers at BC and Vietnam colleges,” BCCIE executive director Randall Martin said.
“It signifies the commitment that BCC, BCCIE, and VACC share in fostering excellence in international education.”
During the conference, BCCIE also launched the Vietnam-Canada Institutional Partnership Initiative, a platform allowing institutions from both countries to form partnerships in support of sustainability and transferability of knowledge and to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
A total of 18 Canadian institutions (16 from BC) and 20 VACC member institutions participated, and BCCIE told The PIE that further agreements are expected to be signed in the coming weeks.
