Student mobility between the UK and China has received a new boost with the launch of a partnership fund by the British Council.
Announced at a reception to mark the fifth anniversary of the Generation UK campaign, the new UK-China Outward Mobility Internationalisation Partnership Fund aims to support greater student mobility between the UK and China, paving the way to lasting links and partnerships between the two countries.

The British Council is calling for proposals from UK higher and further education institutions. Up to £30,000 will be awarded to support programs strengthening internationalisation and mobility initiatives with China.
“We are delighted to launch the UK-China Outward Mobility Internationalisation Partnership Fund, which furthers our commitment to working with China to develop global citizens of the 21st century,” director China at the British Council and minister counsellor (Education and Culture) at the British Embassy Beijing Carma Elliot said in a statement.
“This is an opportunity for UK and Chinese institutions to collaborate on shared ambitions and shared goals to give young people in the UK greater opportunities to experience all that China has to offer.”
The Generation UK campaign, supporting British students to take up study or internship opportunities in China, has seen a significant increase in the number of participants over the past five years.
More than 55,000 participated in the program since the launch, and in 2018 approximately 15,000 young Brits had access to study or work experience in China.
“As we celebrate five years of changing lives through the Generation UK campaign, we now look to the next five years of creating sustainable outward mobility initiatives to China,” Elliot said.
