Study Group gets Office for Students status

Study Group has been added to the Office for Students register as a recognised higher education institution in England, the first pathway provider to obtain registration.

Recognition on the OfS register is of particular importance for institutions wishing to recruit international students

Established last year under the Higher Education and Research Act 2017, the Office for Students is the regulator of higher education in England.

“We pride ourselves on the quality academic experiences that we provide for our students”

“We’re very pleased to be the first pathway provider to be accepted onto the Office for Students register of English higher education providers,” James Pitman, Study Group’s managing director, UK & Europe for higher education said in a statement.

“We pride ourselves on the quality academic experiences that we provide for our students, and the particular focus we place on international student progression to higher education institutes.”

The newly acquired registration could also help international recruitment efforts, showing that the organisation meets the OfS’ requirements for “course quality, academic standard, student support and protection,” as Pitman explained.

“It’s important that our prospective students recognise that we offer well-designed courses that deliver a high-quality academic experience,” Pitman told The PIE News.

“Office for Students registration reinforces this, placing Study Group on a parity with other leading higher education institutions in the UK.”

This will also enable students to access the same range of benefits with their visas as students attending other registered higher education providers, the organisation explained.

“Students at Study Group International Study Centres will be able to access similar benefits with their visas to students at British universities,” Pitman added.

“This will be of particular significance to students in Asia and the Middle East, where there is a growing demand for quality, proven pathways into UK universities.”

Inclusion on the Office for Students register is an important step for HEIs recruiting international students. Providers wishing to apply for or to maintain their Tier 4 licence, to sponsor non-EU students for a UK student visa, must be registered with the OfS or need to obtain educational oversight through a different means (such as through the QAA).
