Brighton College (Singapore) is due to open in September 2020, and will serve children aged between 18 months and 11 years.

Brighton College will add its pedagogy and curricula to the new school, as well as its experience over more than 170 years since the UK College’s establishment in 1845. Cognita on the other hand will lead the day-to-day operation of the new international school.

“Collaboration and the sharing of best educational practice are central to Cognita’s philosophy. The ability for Brighton College (Singapore) to connect with Cognita’s extensive global network of over 70 schools across three continents is a powerful advantage,” said Richard Cairns, headmaster of Brighton College in the UK.

“These connections will enrich the experience of students as well as staff, helping foster a dynamic and successful school that offers a great fit with Singapore and both the Brighton and Cognita groups.”

Cognita, which was acquired for £2bn in 2018 by Zurich-based Jacobs Holding, already works with Australian International School and Stamford American International School in Singapore.

“We are delighted to be introducing this leading British educator to complement our successful US and Australian schools in Singapore,” Michael Drake, Cognita’s CEO for Asia.

“The possibilities from two great educational organisations coming together are truly exciting,” he added.

The Singapore school remains subject to relevant regulatory approvals.

Earlier in 2019, Cognita acquired veteran junior summer program business Ardmore through its Active Learning division.
