Amity to build largest campus at Dubai’s DIAC

Amity has added two new courses to its current portfolio of 26 programmes, in direct response to the demands of local industry

The university contributed AED300 million (USD$81,677,100) to the 700,000 sq foot campus which will accommodate 5,000 students at full capacity.

Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of TECOM’s Education Cluster, which includes both DIAC and Dubai Knowledge Village said: “The development of a nation can be assessed by the amount of funds being poured into research and development.

Dubai is the latest addition to Amity’s group of international institutions that has a combined student body of over 100,000 students

“We are very pleased with Amity University for making such a significant commitment that helps DIAC achieve its goal of becoming the region’s leading education and research institution in line with the Government mandates.”

Set to be completed next year, the campus will house departments of engineering, management, hospitality and forensic science as well as laboratories and indoor/outdoor sports facilities.

Earlier this year, DIAC commissioned a Workforce Planning Study in conjunction with Deloitte that found there are 64 skills in high demand in the region, including the skills required for entry-level tourism and senior-level telecoms roles.

As a result, Amity has added two new courses to its current portfolio of 26 programmes, in direct response to the demands of local industry to provide programmes catering for sectors including renewable energy, nanotechnology, nuclear science, real estate management, and hospitality and tourism.

Dubai is the latest addition to Amity’s group of international institutions that has a combined student body of over 100,000 students studying at locations in India, the US, UK, Mauritius, Romania, China and Singapore.

Established in 2007,  DIAC is the world’s only tax-free higher education zone. It currently has 21 of the UAE’s 37 international branch campuses, from 11 different nationalities and hosts over 20,000 students from 125 countries.

Other foreign providers include Hult International Business School, Michigan State University, Murdoch University and Manipal University.
