Duolingo, Global. Jill Burstein is joining the Duolingo Assessment Research team as a Principal Assessment Scientist. A leader in AI in Education, Jill’s research lies at the intersection of AI, education and measurement, equity in education, learning analytics, natural language processing (NLP), and user-centered design. She has led teams that built AI-based applications for education, and is an inventor on several patents of NLP capabilities for use with educational technology. Jill holds a B.A. in Linguistics and Spanish from New York University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Linguistics from the Graduate Center, City University of New York, and serves as the Chair of SIG EDU, an ACL Special Interest Group on Building Educational Applications. As a principle assessment scientist for the Duolingo English Test, she will work with the Assessment Research team to advance the field of high stakes testing.
