Advance HE, UK. Alistair Jarvis has been named chief executive of Advance HE, a member-led charity that supports higher education institutions to develop and improve with a focus on excellence in teaching and learning, effective governance, leadership development and embedding equality, diversity and inclusion. Advance HE has over 450 members – in the UK and internationally. Alistair moved there after three years as pro vice-chancellor at the University of London. Previously, Alistair worked at Universities UK, holding the role of CEO from 2017-2022, and receiving a CBE for services to higher education. He is a current member of the Board of Trustees of UCAS, the UK’s shared admissions service. Upon taking on his role at Advance HE, Alistair said: “To be successful, higher education institutions need strong leadership, good governance, excellence in teaching and learning, and to build inclusive campuses. I am proud to be taking on the leadership of an organisation which that works with partners across the globe to provide support and drive enhancement in each of these vital areas.”
