Taiwan's new president, Tsai Ing-Wen, assumed office last month, and educators have said it may be beneficial to downsize the country’s higher education offering, improve relations with China and attract more overseas students.

From next year, students entering Executive MBA programmes offered by Chinese and foreign business schools will be required to take a national entrance exam, the Ministry of Education has announced. Other regulations introduced include stricter monitoring of class attendance and performance.
