Institutions in Australia and the UK may suffer worse financially as a result of the pandemic than their US and European counterparts, new U-Multirank research has suggested.

Institutions and governments should ignore influential international university rankings, HEPI has charged, claiming they are based on data that is “unreliable and sometimes worse”.

Business focused schools make up half of the top 25 ranked institutions by student mobility, according to the third annual global university rankings by U-Multirank.

User-driven global higher education league table, U-Multirank, has released its second annual internationalisation rankings, with just over one in 10 universities analysed achieving the top scores available in four different internationalisation metrics.

A new global higher education ranking backed by €2 million in European Union funding launches today. As well as assessing the overall performance of 850 universities worldwide, U-Multirank will enable users to create personalised rankings according to their priorities.

A new university ranking system aimed to provide a more realistic and user-friendly guide to higher education institutions – and challenge the hegemony of today's leading rankings – was launched by the European Union in Dublin last week. 500 universities from across Europe and the world are expected to take part.
