Stakeholders in the UK sector are reporting increasing numbers of international students dropping out soon after enrolment in order to accept employment offers in the care sector.

Hinting at a two-tier system for institutions that enrol international students, Rudd said the government wants to reduce the number of people coming into the UK to work and study.

Recent increases to the salary threshold for experienced foreign workers on a Tier 2 visa in the UK will not affect international students, much to the relief of the education sector.
