University rankings critical, survey shows

More than 80% of 14,000 prospective UK-bound international students surveyed said they choose their study destination based on the quality of the education on offer over factors such as job opportunities in the destination country, or even which country they preferred, a new survey reveals.

Student comms disrupted by China Yahoo! Mail closure

Yahoo! officially shutdown its email service in China this Monday giving users a week to save data and their contacts list before accounts are permanently deleted on August 26. Although the closure was announced in April, the move could potentially put a kink in communications with potential and current students from China.

UK: just 6% of foreign students want residency

Only 6% of non-EU students thinking about studying in the UK want to emigrate to the country afterwards, a student survey has found. The finding comes just a year after the government controversially curtailed the post-study work rights of overseas students in its drive to lower net migration.
