The Chinese government has moved management of its overseas Confucius Institutes to an NGO to lessen the suspicion the centres have attracted over the last few years.

The Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi exams taken by Mandarin learners to prove their language proficiency are set to be reformed, according to test organisers the Hanban.
