A messenger-based chatbot and a playwriting project for Palestinian students were awarded prizes at this year's British Council ELTons, while ELT heavyweight David Crystal was honoured with an Outstanding Achievement Award.
The British Council held its twelfth annual ELTons in London on Thursday to celebrate excellence and diversity in English language teaching. Accolades were given in six categories including course innovation, teaching innovation, new talent in writing and digital innovation.
The annual ELTons, a ceremony created and hosted by the British Council to celebrate innovation in the design and delivery of English language teaching, once again put the ELT industry on a world stage this week; helped by a live feed so that viewers around the world could also watch the ceremony.
The British Council has unveiled its shortlist of nominees for the 2013 ELTon awards, which celebrate innovation in English language teaching. Meanwhile, four business English trainers in the UK have been nominated for the first ever accolade recognising professionals in their sector.
