UK: students from new EU face work permit delays

Students from the new EU states Romania and Bulgaria are facing waiting times of up to nine months when applying for permission to work part time during their university studies in the UK, the UK Border Agency has revealed. Affected students have said the situation is putting their degrees at risk and forcing them into illegal work.

More Bulgarians consider studying abroad

There is considerable and growing demand in Bulgaria to study abroad, according a new public opinion survey. Of 1,000 respondents all under 30 years old, 63% said they planned to leave Bulgaria for foreign study or work. However, students are turning away from traditional favourite the UK for more affordable choices.
