USA: SEVP reveals new visa and vacation policies

During an advocacy day held for English USA members, US government agency, SEVP, informed universities that that they would no longer be able to issue I-20 visas for degree-seeking students on condition of a student improving their English level. They will have to reapply for a new I-20 upon completion of their English level; this is one of several policy adjustments..

Accreditation resolution uncertain for US IEPs

After two sessions at NAFSA yesterday which addressed the accreditation issue surrounding US intensive English programs (IEPs) operating on campus, the sector is more hopeful that a resolution might be reached. However, there is some way to go before the US government, via SEVP, achieves cohesion with the sector on the new law.

Panic over accreditation “U-turn”, USA

In the USA, government agency SEVP is creating panic, stating that on-campus IEPs (Intensive English Programs) may not be able to operate unless their "host" institution has specific ESL-accreditation. Otherwise, the IEP may not be eligible to enrol international students until they gain such certification, which could take over a year.
