We are committed to maintaining a high level of communication”

The HEI is working with Terra Dotta, a firm specialising in international management solutions, to provide online and mobile assistance for the whole mobile study period.

The AlertTraveller app allows country profile information to be sent to students and parents before they travel, and can be used by universities to send updates, including on natural disasters or large-scale travel disruption.

Crucially, it also allows for students to maintain contact with the home university in case of emergency, and contains a “check-in” button for students to report their location when needed.

“We send over 700 students abroad each year and are committed to maintaining a high level of safety communication with them to ensure immediate and relevant resources are available in real time for all local emergency situations,” said Terence Miller, director of International Education at Marquette.

Terra Dotta’s applications aim to streamline the entire study abroad process, from applications and program information, to maintaining contact over the entire period of overseas study. The firm currently partners with at least 50 institutions across the US.
