The Airport Welcome Service will run for six weeks

From Febuary 5, StudyPerth will again begin running the service to ensure students are welcomed, become connected within a community of other students and feel supported upon arrival.

The organisation has appealed to institutions in the region to advise on known interstate or international arrival times of international students, and encourage students to also submit their own travel itineraries.

StudyPerth also said that its Student Success Program aims to help students connect to other services, experiences and community initiatives provided by organisations and institutions.

“International students based offshore have faced a range of issues, such as uncertainty due to border closures and separation from friends,” it said in a statement.

“This has significantly impacted the welfare of those students, with many requiring academic, financial and mental health support. The Service has been designed with this awareness.”

The Airport Welcome Service will run for six weeks, and aims to assist international students commencing late February to mid-March.

Desks will be located at Terminal 1 and Terminals 3/4 at Perth Airport.

Welcome gift packages include StudyPerth merchandise, study planners, sim cards and flyers and guides for Perth.

The organisation has appointed 12 current international students in paid ‘Airport Greeter’ positions to staff the welcome service.
