SideKick Card launched in Canada

SideKick Card, a financial solution for the international student market that offers an easier way for parents to fund, monitor, and manage how their child spends money while studying abroad, was launched this month in Canada.

The product includes a student-facing mobile application and a parent-controlled student payment card

SideKick aims to reduce the time agents and schools spend solving money-related issues for their clients and enables parents to control and monitor money transfers to students in an intuitive manner.

“It can help agents provide the best experience for their clients, in a simple but effective way”

The product includes a student-facing mobile application and a parent-controlled student payment card for ease of use, with spending budgets for categories including education, food, entertainment, and living expenses.

In addition to accessing better exchange rates, parents are able to load a lump sum of money and control the amount and frequency with which it is transferred to the student’s card, eliminating the risk of having all the money available on the card at once as well as the need for agents or schools to handle students’ weekly allowances.

“Our goal with SideKick is to empower agents around the world with more than a prepaid card,” said Charles Newton Price, SideKick’s chief executive officer.

“It can help them provide the best experience for their clients, in a simple but effective way.”
