“We are very pleased to be investing in this college with UWS and especially to be working with the university under an incorporated joint venture structure"

In the joint-venture with UWS, both Navitas and the university will contribute up to AUS$2.5m for the college located in a the western suburb of Parramatta. Both organisations will be represented equally on the programme’s board of directors.

“We are confident about the future of international education in the UK and this will better position us for future growth in that region”

It will operate alongside the university’s existing UWS College, one of Australia’s biggest pathway programmes spanning foundation, English language and diploma courses, which will now focus on domestic students.

This is the first time the Navitas University Programs Division has worked with a university under an incorporated joint venture model, CEO Rod Jones said.

“We are very pleased to be investing in this college with UWS and especially [using this model],” he commented.

UWS International College will begin offering diploma and foundation programmes including business, communication, engineering and IT courses, with plans to expand its subject offering in future.

Meanwhile, the 10-year agreement with the UK’s University of Northampton marks Navitas’s 10th pathway programme in the UK.

The University of Northampton International College is scheduled to open in October on the university’s Park campus, subject to regulatory approval on naming, and the college gaining formal listing as an embedded college by UK Visas and Immigration.

It will offer undergraduate and postgraduate preparatory programmes across a variety of subjects including business, accounting, arts, sciences, engineering, sports performance and law.

Jones indicated that the partnership could signal further expansion for Navitas in the UK.

“We are confident about the future of international education in the UK and this will better position us for future growth in that region,” he commented.

Currently there are more than 1,000 international students from more than 100 countries studying at the University of Northampton every year.

“Once approved by UKVI, the partnership with Navitas will create a vibrant and successful international college on campus,” said vice chancellor Nick Petford.
