INTO has announced a new partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, its eighth in the US, while Study Group’s Embassy English is set to open on the California Polytechnic State University campus this autumn.

INTO says that by the fifth year of its joint venture with UAB, it aims to enrol over 700 international pathway students.

According to Linda Lucas, provost at the university, INTO The University of Alabama at Birmingham will strengthen the institution’s “ability to internationalise this campus to the benefit of the UAB community and beyond”.

John Sykes, co-founder and CEO of INTO University Partnerships, added that the partnership “will bring additional vital global perspectives to the UAB campus and will bring significant benefits to the wider community in terms of new jobs, access to global talent, and new experiences for students and faculty alike.”

In total, INTO has established partnerships with 22 universities in the UK, US and China.

Embassy English, Study Group’s ESL division, has announced its new school will operate in three Cal Poly classrooms with the capacity for 90 students per week. It will offer English language courses ranging in length from one week to one year as well as work with the university to provide test preparation for California state exams.

Robert Morgan, president at Embassy English, said he is anticipating a successful relationship with the institution.

“Study Group and Cal Poly are exploring additional partnerships for the future, for example, helping the institution bolster its global reach with Study Group’s International Study Center pathway programmes,” he added.

Study Group enrols 63,000 students each year from 170 different countries.
