In 2017 LAL signed a strategic partnership agreement with Shenzhen Meten, which focuses on the development of CELTA Teacher Training in China as well as in-bound Chinese students to LAL’s UK and US language schools.

“This is a very exciting time for education in China, and Meten is the perfect partner to work with on this”

Meten is one of the largest Chinese owned language schools in China, with more than 120 schools in 27 cities.

Since opening in 2006, Meten’s focus has been on academic quality and teaching methodology, but like with most schools in China, does not have a high percentage of CELTA trained teachers.

This led to Meten approaching LAL to ask if the company could deliver CELTA training to its teachers in China.

Alex Perkins, LAL CEO explained that with 20 years’ of experience in the area of CELTA delivery, LAL is perfectly placed to help Meten to offer the extra training Meten’s staff are looking for.

“In addition, this is a very exciting time for education in China, and Meten is the perfect partner to work with on this and future projects,” he said.

LAL’s head of Product Development, Stefan Green, who has been working closely with LAL’s Teacher Training department, said trainers have now successfully delivered two LAL CELTA courses in China.

“Now the focus is to assist Meten in becoming a CELTA delivery centre in its own right so that it can train its existing teachers and offer CELTA courses to the increasing number of people looking to do their training and start their EFL career in China,” he added.

In addition to the cooperation on CELTA courses, Meten is promoting LAL’s English courses to its students who are looking for a study abroad experience to complement their current studies at Meten.

Meten CEO Alan Peng added: “We are very happy with our cooperation with LAL and hope that it would lead to future collaboration between the two companies in the future.”

Earlier in 2018, LAL announced new partnerships with two language schools in Canada and that it plans to expand its partnership with Apollo Language Centre in Ireland.
