"We believe that our vision and values match those of IALC”

International Center for Languages Studies in Washington, DC in the US and VanWest College in Vancouver and Kelowna in Canada joined the network of independent language schools this month.

“We know that agents like new locations, but also some choice in the major destinations”

IALC has been looking for new members in Canada and the US this year, its executive director, Jan Capper, told The PIE News.

“We know that agents like new locations, but also some choice in the major destinations, and our new members bring two new locations and give us two members in Vancouver,” she said.

As well as adding two destinations to IALC’s global spread – Washington, DC and Kelowna – the new additions also give the association two members in Vancouver.

Like all IALC members, the two schools were invited to apply for membership before undergoing an independent inspection.

In order to merit an invitation, schools must have “the reputation and style of a typical IALC school – high quality, caring, personal,” Capper said.

“VanWest is delighted to be a new member in the IALC organisation,” commented Barbara Elliot, executive director of VanWest College.

“We believe that our vision and values match those of IALC and are proud to be part of an organisation that represents the best independent schools and agents from around the world.”

Leaving IALC in October 2016 are Sydney College of English and Phoenix Academy in Australia.
