A renewed partnership with Tribal Group will aim to provide “convenient, secure and tailored” student payments across EMEA and APAC, while an agreement with Adapt IT Education will offer institutions and international students in South Africa “modern” payment experiences that will “unlock” flexibility and efficiency.

“We are thrilled to continue to build on our longstanding relationship with Tribal Global to become their preferred payment partner in EMEA and APAC,” said Sharon Butler, EVP and GM of Global Education, Flywire.

Butler suggested that Tribal’s “extensive knowledge” of the higher education market in EMEA and APAC, and ‘standard-setting’ solutions will help the partners “deliver exceptional payment experiences for students and institutions alike”.

The partnership with Adapt IT will “help universities in South Africa delight their students with seamless, digital payment experiences”, she continued.

Adapt IT Education MD Luxolo Rubushe said that the South African company had considered various payment partners, but Flywire “was the standout for international payment enablement”.

“The combination of Flywire’s innovative global payment platform and powerful software easily integrates into our system, creating immense benefits for both students and our clients,” Rubushe said.

According to study abroad consultancy StudyLink, 45,000 international students study across the 50 TVET Colleges and 26 public universities in South Africa each year.

Traditional payment experiences encounter issues such as limited payment and tracking options for students and institutions, Flywire noted, highlighting that 83% of UK students alone required assistance affording education expenses. A further 70% say the option of payment installations would make their education more affordable.

While also delivering integrated payment solutions for the education market, Flywire aims to extend its payment platforms across Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific markets while transforming students’ digital experiences with greater efficiency and outcomes.

Flywire and Tribal Group emphasised that their continued partnership will allow faster, automated payment, reduced inbound contact volume and increased payer satisfaction, in addition to simplified refunds process and significant reduction in merchant processing fees.
