CEG expands US pathways with ONCAMPUS Texas

On completion of the programme, international students will be able to transfer directly into the second year of a four-year degree at the University of North Texas.

ONCAMPUS Texas is the first of several new ONCAMPUS centres to be announced in 2015

ONCAMPUS Texas will welcome its first cohort of around 40 students in September 2015, but CEG anticipates that the pathway centre will grow to become one of the largest in the US, a spokesperson told The PIE News.

On completion of the University Transfer Programme, international students will be able to transfer directly into the second year of a four-year degree at the university.

The one-year programme includes intensive and development English instruction, academic modules and a First Year Experience course.

“ONCAMPUS Texas is an ideal opportunity for international students to experience life at an American university and gain a deeper understanding of the US and its education system,” Fergus Brownlee, CEG’s Chief Executive, commented.

The new pathway is CEG’s US third venture through ONCAMPUS – part of CEG’s UK-based FoundationCampus programme – along with Wheelock College in Boston and the State University of New York’s Morrisville State College.

The US expansion is set to continue apace, with several more ONCAMPUS centres due to be announced in 2015, a spokesperson said.

UNT, one of the largest research universities in the US, boasts 98 bachelor’s, 82 master’s and 36 doctoral degree programmes across a broad range of disciplines.

“In short, you will receive an education that will take you far in life,” Richard Nader, UNT’s Vice Provost for International Affairs, said.

“UNT is part of one of the fastest growing economic regions in the United States, and students can find excellent programmes focused on science and technology, business, hospitality and tourism, dance and theatre,” he said.

UNT is based in Denton, which was named best small town in America for two consecutive years by USA Today owing to its beauty, friendliness, attractions, recreational opportunities and cuisine.
