British Study Centres expands into USA

British Study Study Centres (BSC) has become an international brand by acquiring American operator, Access to Language Studies, which has operations in New York, Boston and San Diego. This is a new development for the British group and means a new BSC America brand.

"We’ve seen phenomenal growth every summer since 2009"

BSC has grown steadily and surely in the UK and currently has four adult language schools (London, Oxford, Brighton, Bournemouth), a dedicated teacher training centre (Oxford), four UK summer schools and two leading business schools (West London College, Hove College). Dilermando Silva will become the new Head of US Operations

Matt Simmonite, Director of the Juniors’ Division at the company, said, “This is an exciting opportunity for our group, with fantastic new centres in a new country, and we’re absolutely thrilled with the prospect and looking forward to the challenge.”

This summer will see the group open four centres on both coasts of the US. The move into the US market reflects BSC’s confidence in the growing junior sector – which is booming, as reported in The PIE News.

Managing Director of BSC, Andrew Roper, confirmed, “The junior market is booming. We launched our UK junior schools in 2009 and we’ve seen phenomenal growth every summer since.”

BSC also has a new centre in Edinburgh, UK on the cards. Roper explained, “Our strategy for the next 2-3 years is to continue to grow the junior division and this includes adding new and exciting locations and programmes. We feel that the next 5-10 years will see further rapid growth in the juniors’ sector.”
