By the end of this year, learning centres will be available in nine countries

Learning Time with Timmy, featuring characters from the animated Shaun the Sheep series, will see the existing learning portfolio expand further globally through online content.

Consisting of 26 episodes, the YouTube channel will launch this summer and new content will be rolled out each week.

“The new series builds upon the success of the partnership to date”

The Learning Time with Shaun and Timmy portfolio has grown since the British Council partnered with Aardman in 2014.

The content was originally taught to children at learning centres in Chile, Singapore and Mexico.

Since then, ‘pop up’ learning centres have been established in more countries to expand the reach of the learning series.

By the end of this year, learning centres will be available in nine countries, including Bahrain, Egypt and Ukraine.

In these centres, children are taught through a variety of means including videos, music and arts and crafts.

At the start of 2015, a Learning Time with Timmy app was also launched.

Anna Searle, director of English at the British Council, said the partnership provides young children worldwide “a fun and memorable way of learning English.”

“The new series builds upon the success of the partnership to date and will further engage young children in activities in English,” she said.

“The partnership is a perfect blend of the fun and creativity of Aardman’s characters and the British Council’s English language teaching expertise.”
