The Allianz Care Mental Wellbeing app is an early intervention tool that offers eligible international students a “mental wellbeing coach in their pocket”.

“The mental wellbeing of international students is a top priority for us and our education institution partners – it has never been more important to support students in an engaging, relevant and accessible way,” said Aimee McGuinness, chief sales officer at Allianz Partners Australia.

Some 93% of Australia university students stuck overseas experienced stress, according to a Council of International Students Australia survey, with over two-thirds reporting self-diagnosed anxiety and/or self-diagnosed depression.

The launch of the new app comes at a time of “surging demand” for mental health support services in the education sector across Australia as Covid-19 continues to disrupt international students’ study plans, Allianz added.

The Allianz Care Wellbeing App is available for international students who acquired Allianz Care Overseas Student Health Cover through one of Allianz Partner’s education institution partners.

It offers wellbeing assessment to evaluate symptoms and stress levels, and mental fitness training to learn skills on building mental strength.

Complimentary one-on-one coaching support with licensed psychologists and counsellors are also available for eligible overseas student health cover policyholders .
