Hamish Ogston Foundation, UK. It has been announced that Simon Toyne, former President of the Music Teacher’s Association and contributor to the Government’s Expert Panel for the new National Plan for Music Education, has joined the Hamish Ogston Foundation as music project director. Simon’s appointment comes as the Foundation seeks to expand the reach of its music initiatives: the National Schools Singing Programme and the Keyboard Studies Programme, now reaching more than 130 schools and 11,500 pupils per week; it is hoped that Simon’s experience, connections and expertise within UK music education will help the programmes reach thousands more. Commenting on his appointment, Simon Toyne said: “I am proud to be joining the Hamish Ogston Foundation at an exciting stage in its development. I am looking forward to contributing to the Foundation’s vital work in developing an even deeper and wider access to this unique tradition, and in helping to shape a vastly more equal British musical culture of the future.”
