Morehouse College, US. Morehouse College, the US’ only all-male HBCU has appointed Maraina Montgomery as director for international education in the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership. Maraina brings a commitment to DEIJ in education abroad and experiences supporting the development of students, systems, and processes at faith-based, HBCU, and state institutions. As assistant director for study abroad at Howard University, she developed the social media movement “hashtag Study Abroad So Black” along with pre-departure and re-entry practices documented in the Forum on Education Abroad publications, A House Where All Belong: Redesigning Education Abroad for Inclusive Excellence, edited by Nick Gozik & Heather Barclay Hamir and The Half Yet to Be Told: Study Abroad and HBCUs, edited by Andre P. Stevenson & Keshia Abraham.
