Instituto Cervantes, Spain. Luis García Montero has become director of the Instituto Cervantes, the Spanish government agency responsible for promoting the study and the teaching of Spanish language and culture. As a poet, narrator and essayist, Luis García Montero has received, the National Literature Prize (1994), the National Prize for Criticism (2003) and the Ramón López Velarde Prize (Mexico, 2017). The new director of the Cervantes Institute is a professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Granada, where he has been teaching for decades. He is best known for his book “Habitaciones dobles”. García Montero has also won several prestigious awards such as the National Literature, the National Criticism or the prize of the Booksellers Guild of Madrid.
