Niagara College, Canada. Experienced leader, educator and cross-cultural competence specialist Gary Torraville was appointed Niagara College’s Director of International in May. Gary has developed collaborative partnerships and student learning opportunities that champion culturally diverse learning environments in 10 countries around the world. His global lens on education is evident through his previous work teaching courses in China in support of an academic mobility agreement with several institutions. While teaching at the Culinary Institute of Canada at Holland College, Gary was responsible for developing their International Hospitality Diploma program, which demonstrated his passion for global citizenship. Gary’s research work during his M.Ed. studies focused on cross-cultural competencies and he completed his applied research study on the intercultural competence of faculty. He also is a certified Intercultural Development Inventory Facilitator. Most recently, he was the Associate Dean of Niagara College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute.
