York University, Canada. Dr Douglas Proctor has taken up the role of assistant vice-president (global engagement and partnerships) and senior international officer at York University in Toronto. After a global career in international education with positions held in France, New Caledonia, Australia and Ireland, Douglas looks forward to leading the development of York’s next global strategy and boosting the impact of York’s global engagement in teaching, research, and outreach. While moving from Australia to Canada in December will mean a total change of wardrobe, Douglas has been promised a ready supply of maple syrup to ease the transition! He said: “Having taken my undergraduate degree at the University of York in the UK, it seems fitting that I’m about to step into the SIO role at York University in Canada. I can’t wait to learn more about how Canadian international education works from the inside!”
