University of Western Australia. Diane Smith-Gander has been appointed as the 16th and first female Chancellor of the University of Western Australia. Diane formerly chaired the UWA Business School Board and is an adjunct professor of corporate governance at the university. The university awarded her an honourary doctorate in economics in 2015. Diane, who has been associated with UWA for over 50 years, said she was greatly honoured to be appointed Chancellor. “I am first and foremost a West Australian,” she said: “I will never forget that this University is obliged by its purpose to take wisdom and to impart wisdom for the prosperity of the people in WA,” she said.
