The 14th annual Forum on Education Abroad conference in Boston was held in March. Attendees revisited and discussed the foundations of good practice when supporting quality education abroad programs. Three-time Grammy Award-winning singer, activist, and humanitarian, Angélique Kidjo gave the opening plenary address.
SUL Language Schools held its first “English Afloat” fam trip on the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship on April 16 to 18. Covering three countries, en route from Barcelona to Genoa via Marseille, representatives of 42 partner agencies from 24 countries got a taste of SUL’s ‘on-board’ English language courses and voted on next year’s programs.

Themed The impact of the fourth industrial revolution on higher education in the Asia Pacific, the conference explored for providers are preparing students for future employment needs.
The Baltic Council hosted its Days of International Education fairs in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in March. More than 10,000 visitors attended the event, as did more than 100 institutions from Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and China. Participants included universities, schools, colleges, language course providers, professional course providers and state educational agencies.
29 educators from five countries took part in QE’s missions to Seoul and Tokyo. The Seoul Mission was its first mission to Korea and to mark the occasion QE awarded a $1,500 QE Scholarship to an agent, Mihyeong Yu from Creative Scholars Korea. In November QE will hold its 100th event in Barcelona.
The Class of 2020 held its first UK Regional Session in March, where colleagues from universities, cities and real estate industries discussed the future of student living. Through panels featuring inspiring speakers Rokia Raslan, Stewart Moore, Aaron Maskrey, Luke Nolan and Jonathan Burrows the session aimed at finding forward-thinking approaches to technology and student living.
ICEF held its Japan-Korean and Mexico-Colombia Agent Roadshows in Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City and Bogotá in March and February, with the 2018 Roadshow in Mexico-Colombia proving to be the largest ICEF roadshow event to date, with 16% more agents in Mexico City than in 2017.
