Johns Hopkins University has announced its Bloomberg School of Public Health is establishing a doctoral degree with Tsinghua University for aspiring public health leaders in China.
The Tsinghua-Johns Hopkins Public Health Management Program will be located at the Tsinghua Institute for Hospital Management in Beijing, and is expecting its first intake of PhD students in autumn next year.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to help train the next generation of public health and health care leaders in China”
The course, which is intended primarily for Chinese students, will be developed for those who wish to pursue careers in public health and hospital management.
The programme was also established in collaboration with Capital Healthcare Group, which specialises in health-related business, and they will be offering financial support to the programme.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to help train the next generation of public health and health care leaders in China, leaders with a unique perspective on the specific needs of their country,” said Michael J. Klag, dean of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
“The school has worked with Chinese educational institutions going back nearly a century and this new collaboration is another way to strengthen that bond.”
Johns Hopkins University is a private research institution located in Baltimore in the US, and its Bloomberg School of Public Health also offers an MBA and a Master’s of Public Health programme at the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai.
