University groups are urging Congress to reverse the cuts, while seven states have challenged the administration’s wider effort to withhold funding approved by lawmakers.

The Trump administration has proposed charging US universities $70,000 for each international student they recommend for Optional Practical Training (OPT), with institutions facing further annual fees for extensions.

The university plans to begin teaching in August 2027, with admissions awaiting final UGC approval and its initial location and cohort size still being determined.
