Following the launch of its digital arm in January, Cambridge Education Group has announced a new partnership with the Web Science Institute at the University of Southampton.
The partnership will enable CEG Digital to deliver a suite of fully online courses, with the first cohort of students expected to enrol in the autumn.
The first course, Foundations of Data Science, will begin this year. Next year will see the rollout of more courses in Data Science for Marketing, Finance and Healthcare.
“We believe there is enormous demand for high quality professionally focused courses in this area”
“The future of education is online,” said Dame Wendy Hall, director of the Web Science Institute at the university. “And this partnership will enable the WSI to develop and deliver state of the art Data Science courses that are available to busy professionals wherever they are based.”
The courses will last for four weeks and will be marketed to students in the UK and worldwide. Supplementary workshops will also be offered for participants to meet face-to-face.
“We believe there is enormous demand for high quality, professionally focused courses in this area and we are excited to be working with the world-leading academics at Southampton,” said Geoff Webster, managing director of CEG Digital.
“We believe this will be a very attractive proposition for professionals, companies and entrepreneurs, in the UK and around the world.”
Last month, CEG Digital partnered with Falmouth University to offer part-time online master’s programmes, in order to grow the university’s student numbers and enable it to reach the global, part-time, flexible market. The degree will cost £12,250 and students will receive a qualification identical to those studying on campus.
