The international schools market is booming and in 2013-2014 the number of students enrolled in this market sector increased by 8.4% to 3.6 million. Top local student nationalities studying at the premium leading international schools are Thai, Kuwaiti, Mexican, Emirati and Spanish.

The USA's HE marketplace could benefit by 8 to 10% growth if recruitment practices evolved to catch up with those seen in Australia and the UK, Mitch Leventhal, co-founder of AIRC has said. "The British and the Australians are 10 to 15 years ahead in terms of sophistication of the staff and the leadership of universities," he said.

Germany: around 50% of foreign students stay on

The government-funded German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) published new statistics earlier this week revealing the number of international students in German universities is higher than ever, with one in ten students hailing from overseas (11.3%). For the first time DAAD has also disclosed that around 50% of foreign students remain in the country after graduating.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Migration has launched an inquiry into the impact of the closure of the UK's Post-Study Work (PSW) route for non-EU graduates examining the effects on universities, students and local economies.The report will compare the UK to competing study destinations that offer PSW rights as well as feedback from stakeholders impacted by the change.
