Australia eases visa process for universities

Australia is to streamline the process of obtaining a visa for degree study as part of number of new measures to boost international education. The new system, to be introduced March 24, transfers the risk of proving the validity of applications from the government to universities, “making the application process simpler and faster”.

Number of returning Chinese students up 38%

The number of Chinese who return to China after studying abroad rose significantly last year, with government incentives, China's buoyant economy and the effects of tougher job markets abroad driving the trend. A total of 186,200 Chinese returned home by the end of 2011, up from 135,000 in 2010.
