“Arvid has been the driving force behind Study Group growing from a niche education business to one of the world’s leading providers of private education, with more than 60,000 students in Australasia, the UK, and North America,” Hood said.
Mr Petersen, who had been chairman at Study Group since 2006, said he remained committed to the company.
“After almost six years as chair, and a significant period before that building and running the company, I believe it is a sign of the company’s maturity and potential that we can attract a top educator such as John as chairman.”
He said Hood had achieved “significant growth” in Oxford’s research and postgraduate activity before coming to Study Group.
Australia-based Study Group delivers private higher, language, career and pathway education in over 40 study centres worldwide. The company recently announced a joint venture with
Royal Roads University in Canada. The group said it had grown its total number of students from 50,000 to almost 60,000 over the past two years.
