Teach and Travel China unveils Vietnam product

Teach and Travel Vietnam (TTV) is launching in August, following the successful model of Teach and Travel China (TTC), set up in 2005, which has become the biggest TEFL training programme in China catering to more than 500 students each year.

TTV will see interns take a TESOL course for a month before teaching English in a Vietnamese school for five months. Participants also get to travel Vietnam experiencing its culture in a way that goes “beyond the guidebooks and tourist attractions”.

Education travel firm IES Global runs TTC in tandem with the English Language Company (ELC), which provides the teacher training and is also its partner for the new work-travel programme in Vietnam this summer.

David Scott, co-owner of Sydney-based ELC said: “TTV gives the teachers a chance to immerse themselves in Vietnamese culture and experience Vietnam in a way that tourists cannot. Training, accommodation, meals, support and activities are all included in the programme so the teachers have the chance to really integrate into the local communities and enjoy their time in Vietnam.”

China-based IES Global said the programme would not only provide a cultural experience for foreigners but also help improve English in Vietnam. “Many of the young people in Asia will never have a chance to learn English so hope to contribute to the communities there by providing good quality English teaching,” said Joanne Wong, the company’s managing director.

IES Global also announced it would launch a Teach and Travel programme in Thailand in 2012 with a view to bringing all its work and study-travel programmes to the country.
