Study Group toasts Bellerbys’ league ranking

Study Group, owner of upmarket private college chain, Bellerbys College in the UK, is toasting the success of its Brighton centre making it into the top 30 of the prestigious Financial Times school rankings. It also has something else to celebrate – a visit from premier Royal couple, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at one of its Cambridge campuses.

The website splashes news of the recent Royal visit

Fifty-seven per cent of all A-level results were graded A* or A

Last month, Bellerbys Brighton placed in 29th position in the 2012 league table, ranked by exam performance.

Bellerbys Cambridge also held its position at 47, with both schools outperforming prestigious and well known establishments such as Abbey College, Cambridge (59th), Charterhouse (81st), and Roedean (136th).

The rankings profile over 2,000 of nearly 3,000 secondary schools in the UK (schools have to have at least 20 students taking A-levels to qualify). The top 100 is dominated by independent or grammar schools.

Study Group revealed that in 2012, over four Bellerbys colleges, 50 per cent of successful A-level students graduated to the top 15 universities. Fifty-seven per cent of all A-level results were graded A* or A, which is twice the national average.

Nigel Addison, Principal of Bellerbys Brighton, commented: “Bellerbys Brighton’s position illustrates the benefits and importance of highly qualified teachers with good experience, teaching small classes.”

John Rushton, Principal at Bellerbys Cambridge, added, “At Bellerbys College we have dedicated and experienced teachers who know how to get the best from all their students.”

And at the end of November, students and staff at one of the Cambridge schools got to meet royalty, after a visit from the heir to the throne and his wife. Video footage is posted up on the company website!
