Study Group launches fashion foundation in UK

International fashion students will soon be able to take a three-term foundation course to prepare for their undergraduate degree programmes at fashion school Istituto Marangoni, which has campuses in London, Paris and Milan, due to an alliance unveiled with global education provider Study Group.

"Language shouldn’t be a barrier for any emerging talent"

The company will establish an International Study Centre (ISC) on the fashion school’s London campus, opening in October. The foundation programme will include English language training as well as modules on drawing, computer drawing and history of art.

“The new partnership with Study Group confirms our commitment to the attraction of some of the best students from around the world,” said Roberto Riccio Group Managing Director at Istituto Marangoni.

“Language shouldn’t be a barrier for any emerging talent hoping to make it in the fashion and design industry. The programmes offered at the ISC will ensure international students are at a suitable academic level to then be trained as highly skilled fashion technicians at our schools.”

The centre will be based on the traditional Study Group ISC university partnership model already in existence. Both companies hope to attract students from emerging fashion hotspots such as Shanghai, Moscow, Dubai, Seoul and Mumbai.

After completing the foundation course, students will be able to directly start a BA Hons undergraduate degree at the London and Paris locations or a three-year undergraduate programme at the school in Milan.

“There is a wealth of emerging talent in previously untapped regions of the world that is determined to break through into the fashion industry,” said James Pitman, Study Group UK Higher Education Managing Director.

“We are recognised as the leaders in international education and take great pride in the levels of progression achieved by the students that study with us. We will replicate this success with Istituto Marangoni to further help the school attract the brightest and the best from around the world.”

Study Group was founded in 1994 and now has an enrolment base of 60,000 students around the world.
